The Product Repair System is used to manage the repair of customer
owned units (example: PCs, Monitors, TVs, etc.) during each stage
of production: receiving, inspection, repair, quality control, packaging,
shipping, and billing:
The workflow module utilizes bar-code technology to streamline
data entry, reduce repair cycle-time, and track the unit throughout
the process. At "receiving", a workorder is generated
and a bar-coded sticker is placed on the unit. As the unit flows
through each processing stage, the bar-code is scanned - the record
is retrieving for view / updating. EIA Codes (Symptom and Repair
Action) are integrated within the system to minimize technician
look-up time and to standardize coding of quality information. The
system is also integrated with the Part Inventory, Customer, Model,
and other tables to validate information and speed the process.
At "shipping", the shipping vendor's tracking number is
recorded for delivery tracking purposes.
The billing module produces a detailed invoice for the
customer and generates a file for importing into the 3rd party accounting
system.
The report module includes queries / reports for quality
information, technician activity, unit repair monitoring, and parts
usage.
